TAX BENEFITS

A good deed that’s also a smart one.

Vehicle donations are tax-deductible. If your vehicle sells for more than $500, your deduction equals the sale price — listed on IRS Form 1098-C.

If it sells for $500 or less, you may claim the fair market value up to $500 with your written donation receipt.

We work to maximize the auction return on every vehicle. For specific questions, please consult your tax advisor.

1. Does my vehicle need to run?

Nope! We accept vehicles in any condition — running, not running, damaged, or incomplete. If it has an engine, we can likely accept it.

2. How long does pickup take?

Most pickups are scheduled within 1–3 business days. A licensed tow company will come to your location at a time that works for you — completely free.

3. What if I’ve lost the title?

In many cases, we can still accept your vehicle. Give us a call at 855-500-7433 and we’ll help you figure out the best path forward.

4. How do I claim my tax deduction?

After your vehicle is sold, you’ll receive an IRS Form 1098-C documenting the sale price. Use this when filing your taxes. If the vehicle sells for $500 or less, you may claim up to $500 in fair market value.

5. Where does the money go?

100% of net proceeds go directly to the Santa Cruz SPCA to support animal rescue, medical care, sheltering, and adoption services. The Santa Cruz SPCA receives no government funding.
