Poppy

Meet Poppy. Twenty-three pounds of Rat Terrier mix, black and white, two years old, and quick enough to keep you honest. She is bright, spirited, and genuinely charming, with a playful streak and a mind that wants a job. She loves fetch. She is a great car companion. She has had a blast learning games like touch and find it, catching treats out of the air, and weaving through cones, and she has enjoyed hikes, park adventures, pup cup runs, and as much quality time with her favorite people as they can spare.

Poppy

Poppy recently spent two weeks in a dog-savvy foster home, so we can tell you what she is like when the kennel doors are behind her. Their report: super smart, curious about everything, quite the snuggle bug, and a whole lot of fun. Once Poppy knows you and trusts you, she bonds hard and wants to be part of your world.

She also has some quirks, and we would rather tell you now than have you find out later. Poppy can be reactive to other dogs and to busy activity around her. She can be possessive of certain favorite things. And she has clear opinions about when she does and does not want to be touched. Here is the part worth knowing: she is a good communicator about all of it. Life with Poppy gets much easier once you learn to listen to what she is telling you.

Poppy

What she needs is specific. Routine. Positive reinforcement. Mental enrichment, and plenty of it. An experienced, adult-only home where she can be the only pet, with a life that gives her something to think about without overwhelming her. That is a real list, and it rules out a lot of households. For the right one, it adds up to a smart, sensitive, very funny dog who will be entirely yours. You?
