Everyone who adopts from or interacts with the Santa Cruz SPCA has a unique story to tell. But all of our stories come down to the same message: Animal lives matter, and animals make a difference in human lives. Here, people who have experienced our life-saving, life-changing work first hand say it in their own words.
“I love animals and I wanted to volunteer my time with a rescue who does it right. I really enjoy helping with capital improvements, which creates a pleasant and organized environment not only for the animals but also visitors and the employees who work so hard.”
— Karen B., volunteer
“Thanks for your compassion, professionalism, and patience during Ranger’s adoption. It’s highly obvious that you truly care for not only Ranger, but the well-being of all these animals. Pets are so lucky to have you guys until they find their homes!”
— Patty S., adopter
“I can’t thank you enough for providing a service like Blackie’s Fund. My cat had not seen a vet in years because I couldn’t afford it. I just want to do what is right for her because she’s everything I have. I’m happy to say that she finally got the care she needed thanks to the Santa Cruz SPCA. There is no other fund out there like this and I’m so incredibly grateful!”
— Esme F., Blackie’s Fund wellness event participant
“There is no other organization like the SCSPCA. I’m an adopter, a volunteer, and a monthly donor. I support them in literally every capacity I have because the work done here is just a cut above the rest. Their space is small but their hearts are big!”
— Ellen B., adopter, volunteer, donor
“I cannot imagine my life without Pepper in it, and I will be eternally grateful to the SCSPCA for connecting me with my furry soulmate.”
— Molly G., adopter
“The staff of the Santa Cruz SPCA is phenomenal! They are exuberant, caring, kind, and careful. The animals are in great hands – they eat healthy food, get plenty of socialization, and best of all, get to stay until they find wonderful new homes. I am deeply grateful to know that animals are sheltered here. They also have a program to help local children learn to better care for animals. Bless the people here.”
— Laurie M., visitor
